Retinal Problems

There is a wide range of retinal diseases, involving diabetic and hypertensive patients and those who have thromboembolic vascular problems. These may cause hereditary disorders or macular degeneration, the leading cause of severe vision loss in age related.

There is a medical treatment in most of this illness (antiangiogenic injection as Lucentis, Eylea or anti-inflammatory injection of Ozurdex). Others, have laser treatment, as retinal tear and diabetic retinopathy. If the retina is detached, surgical repair is necessary.

Diabetics patients should be made annual checks. Retinal detachment produces symptoms such as light flashes, a sudden decrease in sight, curtain or veil like obstructions like floaters that track the field of vision. It is vital that any of these symptoms be reported to your ophthalmologist as soon as possible.
