As every year, the last edition of one of the most consolidated and famous congresses among the national and international ophthalmological population took place a few days ago. It is the twenty-first edition of FACO ELCHE.
The success of this edition and the previous ones, lies in the permanent update in the field of implantorefractive surgery, reviewing advanced surgical techniques and presenting special clinical cases as well as a live surgery session, being retransmitted to all attendees in real time, and performed by eye surgeons of the highest level.
In addition, on this occasion, the parallel celebration of the eleventh congress of the World Keratoconus Society took place within the framework of Facoelche, thus expanding the scientific program of the same.
Dr.Ike Ahmed Canadian ophthalmologist, has been invited for his renowned international reputation, and has performed live surgery of complex cases of anterior segment reconstruction as well as trabecular implants for Glaucoma.
The latest developments in intraocular lenses for myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia surgery have been debated, as in other occasions, evaluating all market options and weighing the pros and cons of each of the lens families, to draw conclusions regarding the benefits of each. Every year this reflection is made, being very important the choice of the lens, to be the right lens for each of our patients. Depending on the expectations and characteristics of the eye, we will lean towards one or another lens to get the best result.
There has also been a discussion dedicated to women ophthalmologists, in which the speakers have explained their vicissitudes to perform their care work in this field, since it is a medical specialty in which there are more women than men.
At the same time, there has been a space in which a large group of ophthalmologists who are active and who have benefited from the latest surgical technologies as patients have been in the foreground. They have explained to the rest of the room their feelings with each operation, the pros and cons and how these techniques affect their daily work, being their testimonies of great interest to the audience. It is the best way to understand and explain to patients that they will find themselves after their surgery.
Finally, we have reviewed the new drugs launched on the market and the treatment of macular edema in diabetic patients.As well as a review of currently existing MIGS (minimally invasive glaucoma surgery).
The attendance was the maximum, and specific parallel meetings were also held with different WET-Lab to update the participants.
