The Alcon Laboratory has just launched a new intraocular lens for cataract surgery, to which it has modified its water content to obtain a substantial improvement in the visual quality of patients.
It is the “CLAREON” lens, hydrophobic as its predecessor and preloaded in a practical injector device called “Autonome”. Co2 by a pump in the back of the disposable injector, the lens is not manipulated at any time and progresses smoothly, accurate and automated to the start of the corneal incision valved we do for introduction into the eye.
The fundamental difference with the material that is usually used is a higher water content, avoiding one of the side effects, the uncomfortable Glistenings or microvacuolas of liquid, with which the lenses of this house appeared with the years, obtaining a greater visual clarity with the time and better sensitivity to the contrast.
This is the only existing lens on the market with disposable and automated injector device, being able to graduate at all times the speed of injection and advance of it.
On February 27th, 2018, Dr. Carretero has implanted the first Clareon lens from Madrid, in the south of Spain, with great success and seeking excellence in our most frequent procedure, the cataract.
